a post-mortem on this year’s Festival

Today, I found myself clearing out my desk — blame it on my hormones — and found all of my working papers for this year’s Festival. It was a mess of matrices, commented-on printouts of tarp drafts, annotated printouts of minutes of meetings dating back to June this year and of course, photos. I found myself smiling at them absently, thinking: Next year ulit.

Hahaha.

Anyway, as with previous year-end Read-Along events, this year’s Festival was powered by volunteers — from the secretariat, to the ushers, to the people who handed out the food and the celebrities who agreed to take time out from their busy scheds to read to the kids (nearly a thousand — we counted). Six sessions in two days at the Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center, beside a lake and under sunny skies. It was perfect.

Here be photos I shared on Instagram while on the floor on those two days. (Under cut)
