the last time i saw you [cynthia redux]
Caught the second leg of Cynthia Alexander‘s farewell gig series at Conspiracy Bar on Visayas Ave. in Quezon City with Andrea on Friday. The place was bursting at the seams. We arrived at past-10. Cynthia started playing around 11 p.m. She played the favorites — U & I, Motorbykle, Owner of the Sky, Daisy Chain off the top of my head — and asked her brother Joey Ayala (who was there entertaining guests like it were a normal house — too sweet and generous) to jam with her in Dumaan Ako. That did my chest in, totally.
We left as Comfort in Your Strangeness ended. It seemed like the right thing to do.
I was ready to run into the girl I used to go out with — I think I got my early Cynthia fix from old albums she owned, and wasn’t the last time I was actually in Conspiracy that time she actually was on stage to sing? Too long ago for accurate memory hah. Anyway, I didn’t see her, though I ran into a common friend, who was with Andrea’s old school mate. Strange small worlds. The morning after, she (too many girl-pronouns in this paragraph haha — KEEP UP) messaged me on Facebook to say she was there with her boyfriend that night, but that they were discouraged by the mad crowd. I said I would have loved to introduce her to Andrea. That said — To each its own time. Yep.

I was there when we saw her on stage. As I like to say, Past is Past. We all move on.
Ice – Haha parang naaalala ko nga =) At tama lang ang Past is Past is Past. So true.
